Historian López de Gómara writes that Sultan Suleiman promised to a Spanish ambassador not to mistreat the pilgrims coming to Jerusalem "... provided the Emperor would promise not to seize the Greeks in Italy."* In what sense the Greeks were 'seized' in Italy? What's the context of this request?
